Pacific Northwest Canned Pears CAN DO CHALLENGE Official Rules

PARTICIPATION

The 2026 Can Do Challenge (“Contest”) is open to employees who work at a non-commercial foodservice operation (K-12 Schools, Colleges & Universities, Business & Industry, Healthcare, and Military) located in the United States.

ELIGIBILITY

Entrants must be 18 years of age or older. Void where prohibited by law.

HOW TO ENTER

A complete entry will consist of:

1. Completed entry form 
2. Clear photo depicting how you serve U.S. grown Pacific Northwest Canned Pears to patrons
3. Description of your dish or recipe.

Entries that do not meet all of the entry requirements will be disqualified.

Entries must be submitted online at eatcannedpears.com/can-do-entry. Multiple entries may be submitted. Incomplete entries will not be accepted.

ENTRY DEADLINE

Deadline for entry is 11:59 pm Pacific on May 1, 2026. Finalists will be notified no later than May 30, 2026. Finalists will be announced by June 1st, 2026 and posted on eatcannedpears.com/can-do and on PNCPS social media platforms. Top 3 winners will be announced August 31st, 2026.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Entrants should check the can label for “Product of USA” to be sure they are using canned pears that are grown and packed in the U.S.  

All entries must include U.S. Grown Canned Pears (halves, sliced, or diced) packed in juice or light syrup featured as an ingredient in a recipe.

Entries will be accepted between January 9th through  May 1st, 2026.

ENTRY JUDGING

All eligible entries will be reviewed by Pacific Northwest Canned Pear Service and/or its agents.  All decisions are final, binding, and non-disputable.

Entries will be judged on the following criteria, with each being given equal weight in the judges’ assessment:

1. Plate Appeal: Is the dish visually appealing? 
2. Flavor Appeal: Is the recipe delicious; highlighting the flavors of canned pears?
3. Creative Appeal: Is the recipe a creative use of Pacific Northwest Canned Pears?

First, Second, and Third place winners may be asked to provide proof that their entry uses U.S. grown Pacific Northwest Canned Pears.

PRIZES

Winners will receive checks in the amount of:

• First Place:  $1,500
• Second Place: $1,000
• Third Place: $500

All entrants who submit a complete and eligible entry will receive a $10 Amazon Gift Card from Pacific Northwest Canned Pear Service.

Any and all taxes on total prize values are the sole responsibility of the winners. Cash prizes will be awarded by Pacific Northwest Canned Pear Service subject to entrant’s company policy. The entrant is solely responsible for confirming pertinent policies and laws. If a winning entrant’s company prohibits the distribution of cash or other prizes, then the prize may be awarded to the company rather than the individual.

 

GENERAL CONDITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS

By submitting an entry, each entrant grants Pacific Northwest Canned Pear Service non-exclusive rights to use the information and photos included in the entry and any resulting prize information for advertising and promotional purposes.

Pacific Northwest Canned Pear Service and its growers, processors, members, board, staff, and respective partners are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, stolen, inaccurate, misdirected, or undelivered entry materials, or errors or problems of any kind in connection with this Contest.
