Pear-Thyme Chowder

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup Butter or margarine
  • 2 cups Onions, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Flour
  • 3-1/2 gal. Chicken broth
  • 1 qt. Half and half
  • 2 lbs. Turkey meat, cooked or smoked, diced
  • 2 lbs. Pacific Northwest Canned Pears, diced, drained
  • 3-1/2 cups Whole kernel corn
  • 3 tsp. Salt
  • 2 tsp. Garlic powder
  • 2 tsp. Dried thyme leaves
  • 1 tsp. Ground black pepper
  • METHOD

    In stock pot, melt butter. Stir in onion. Cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in flour. Whisk in chicken broth and half & half. Add all remaining ingredients. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.
